Due to the different measuring and production processes used by V-belt manufacturers, different length specifications arise from one manufacturer to another. However, these differences do not affect the functionality of the belts. Different industry standards use different parameters to define the length information. A distinction is made between the external length (Length external, abbreviated Le), the internal length (Length internal, abbreviated Li) and the effective length. The effective length describes the length measurement at approximately 3/4 of the belt height in accordance with DIN 2215. In addition, for a reliable length measurement, the belt tension specified by the vehicle manufacturer must also be taken into account, as this is also an important factor in the production process.
